Acting Coaching
"I chose and my world was shaken. So what? The choice may have been mistaken. The choosing was not."
- Stephen Sondheim, Sunday in the Park with George
Making choices
Acting is the art of making choices while embracing mistakes. Every moment on stage is a decision about how to tell the truth, how to inhabit a person who is not you until they are, how to cultivate a world specific enough that an audience stops watching and starts living inside it with you. The mistake is not the enemy. The mistake is the teacher. The choice that doesn't land shows you where the real one lives.
I work with actors at every level who want to go deeper into the craft, find more specificity in their choices, and learn to trust what their body and instincts already know. Whether you are preparing for a college audition, working on a specific role, or simply ready to push your work further, this is a space where the process is the point.
Sessions are available for song and vocal work, monologue preparation, audition prep, and movement work. We start where you are. We follow what's true. We make some choices, including the wrong ones, and we find out what they teach us.
That is the work. That is also, not coincidentally, a pretty good description of being alive.

Auditions are not about being the best person in the room. They are about being the most present. We work on material selection, preparation, the specific demands of the room you are walking into, and how to walk in as yourself rather than a version of yourself you think they want to see. One session or many, we get you ready.

A monologue is not a showcase. It is a moment in a life. We work on text analysis, physical and emotional access, specificity of circumstance, and the difference between performing a character and inhabiting one. You will leave with a piece that feels like yours because it is.

A song is not a performance. It is a conversation that ran out of words. We work on song choice, vocal technique, stylistic authenticity, and the specific kind of presence that makes a room go quiet when you open your mouth. Whether you are working in musical theatre, contemporary styles, or somewhere in between, we start with what the song is actually about and build everything else from there.

For actors who want to go deeper. We work on whatever you are working on, a role, a technique, a block, a habit that keeps getting in the way. Sessions are tailored entirely to where you are and where you want to go. The only requirement is that you show up willing to be surprised by what comes up.

The body is the instrument. Everything else is interpretation. We work on physical presence, spatial awareness, how tension lives in the body and how to use it rather than fight it, and how to make your physicality specific enough that it tells the story before you say a word. Drawing on Laban technique, Viewpoints, and years of ensemble and devised work, this is training that starts from the inside out.
